“We came to AirGift with a pretty clear idea of what we wanted to do, but as a running shoe company we had absolutely no idea of how to implement it from a technical point of view. It appeared to us that this project was a little bit too ambitious to implement. But AirGift came trough with functionalities that perfectly fit what we wanted to do, but most importantly their REST API allowed us to automate the whole process.”

About the customer

Hoka is a running shoe brand that have quickly attracted thousands of fans thanks to unique designs highly performant. They have a strong customer retention due to regularly designing new collections, but most importantly they leverage a strong community of Hoka runners. The community #Timetofly is extremely valuable to the brand, and they are looking to create new experiences for their customers to keep nurturing the momentum of the community. After seeing brands such as Adidas and Nike setting up NFTs campaigns, Hoka decided to jump on the NFT train and find an appropriate use of NFTs for its brand.

AirGift implementation

Hoka decided to co-design with its customers its next collection. They wanted its customers to be included in every step of the process in an interactive manner. They came to AirGift with the idea that they would drop a collection of NFTs each week, and each holders of the weekly NFTs would have limited time to vote on the shoe collection feature. With each new collection of NFTs dropped, new voting sessions about different features would be held. The voting process was to be 10 weeks, meaning 10 NFTs drops, and if the customers wallet held 10 NFTs at the end, they would get the shoe for free. If they had 5 NFTs, they would get 50%.

“We came to AirGift with a pretty clear idea of what we wanted to do, but as a running shoe company we had absolutely no idea of how to implement it from a technical point of view. It appeared to us that this project was a little bit too ambitious to implement. But AirGift came trough with functionalities that perfectly fit what we wanted to do, but most importantly their REST API allowed us to automate the whole process. We simply set up the 10 collections, then we added the different choices of features to be voted on to each collections, and we were good to go. It took our IT team only 4 hours to connect AirGift API and run tests.”

Each week, a link was created and posted on Twitter where customers could retrieve a NFT. Once retrieved, the customer were able to vote within the AirPocket wallet designed by AirGift. “After the start of the 10 weeks, it was a success as the retrieving and voting process were simple and straightforward with AirPocket wallet. Though the most important were that we could change the different features to be voted on even once the NFTs were retrieved. We realized that some of the features we implemented for the shoe were wrong, but using AirGift dashboard we were able to change that quickly. In total, we had 1157 people holding 5 NFTs, and 579 people having 10 NFTs. We issued a 11th collection, airdropping  to all of them a digital version of the shoe, and it was a marketing success as we even acquired new customers  ! ”
